Possibly Rabid Coyote Bites Woman on Hastings-on-Hudson Trail as Westchester Urges Anyone with Contact to Call Officials

A large, aggressive coyote bit a woman on the ankle along the Old Croton Aqueduct path near Warburton Avenue in Hastings-on-Hudson on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 23, according to a warning from the Westchester County Department of Health. The woman is receiving preventive rabies treatment, and the animal remains at large.

The county, which issued its warning on Sept. 25, said the coyote may be rabid because of its aggressive behavior. Rabies has not been confirmed because the animal has not been caught or tested. Officials want to hear from anyone who has had recent contact with it.
