Nottingham Forest defender Omar Richards is “on course” in his recovery from a hairline fracture of the leg.
The summer signing is yet to make his debut for the Reds after making a summer move from Bayern Munich, having been sidelined since pre-season. He is still several weeks away from a potential return, but boss Steve Cooper says he is making good progress in his rehabilitation.
Forest are also without centre-back Moussa Niakhate for the long-term, while midfielder Jack Colback has recently been absent due to illness. Ryan Yates made his return from a knee problem in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Everton, however, and could be in contention to get more minutes under his belt in Tuesday night’s League Cup tie at Grimsby Town.

Loan link
Nottingham Forest have been linked with a loan move for Tottenham Hostpur defender Sergio Reguilon.
Morgan Gibbs-White became the Reds’ 16th new addition of the summer when he put pen to paper on a club-record deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers last Friday. But boss Steve Cooper is looking to further bolster his squad before the window closes on September 1.
Reguilon is said to have emerged as a player of interest. Forest are “exploring a loan” for the out-of-favour left-back, according to the Daily Mail.
The Spaniard has yet to feature for Spurs this season. Although nursing an injury, he has Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic ahead of him in the pecking order leaving him “surplus to requirements” with Antonio Conte’s side.
Mighten 'wanted'
Nottingham Forest forward Alex Mighten is reportedly "wanted" by Scottish Premiership side Hearts on a loan deal.
The 20-year-old made his Premier League debut in the opening day defeat against Newcastle at St James' Park, before being named as an unused substitute in the past two league games. Mighten featured 27 times for the Reds in their promotion season, and has caught the eye.
According to Football Scotland, Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson who is a fan of the player, has added the youngster to his list of attacking options ahead of their upcoming European run against Zurich on Thursday (August 25). The report also notes that: "Whether or not the club are able to do so is still up in the air with Forest believed to be delaying an agreement over wage contribution negotiations."
Reds boss Steve Cooper previously hailed the youngster, stating he could play a part in the Premier League season. "He's really impressed," he said.
Contract situation
Boss Steve Cooper has again reiterated his stance over his contract situation at Nottingham Forest.
Following promotion at the end of May, owner Evangelos Marinakis stated his desire to tie Cooper down to a new deal. The Welshman has little more than 12 months to run on the terms he signed when he took charge at the City Ground last September.
Talks took place earlier in the summer, with the basis of a new contract understood to have been broadly agreed. And although he has yet to put pen to paper, Cooper has again stated it is not something which is on his mind - his focus is purely on the team.
It is a subject he has been quizzed on several times in recent weeks and months. Asked if there was an update on the situation, he said: “I’m not sure. It’s not something I’m even thinking about, to be fair.
