Portishead bike company closes down after going into liquidation

A Portishead bike servicing and repair company has gone into liquidation and has stopped trading. Haiko Cycling Limited, which previously traded as Mike's Bikes (Portishead), operated from a unit on Harbour Road and was run by director Benjamin Jonathan Sachs.

The company has appointed Lisa Alford and Chris Parkman, of Cornwall-based insolvency practitioners Purnells, as liquidators. An announcement on public records site The Gazette said at a meeting earlier this month Haiko Cycling confirmed it could not, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business and it was “advisable” to wind up the company voluntarily.

The news comes just weeks after Haiko Cycling announced plans on Facebook to relocate from its Portishead site and move to a new outlet on Wild Country Lane in Long Ashton in March. The business was also planning to launch a new website that would allow customers to pre-book servicing.

The company told BristolLive 's sister site BusinessLive: "It is with deep regret and sadness to announce that due to unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances Haiko Cycling has ceased trading.

"It has been our great privilege to serve our community for the last 10 years, we’ve got to know so many of you and will remember your kind words and boundless support forever. Thank you everyone. Your local bike shop, Haiko Cycling."

Haiko Cycling, which released a range of custom clothing in January, was also the principal sponsor for FTP Racing’s Women’s Team for 2022.

The company has told customers with outstanding work or orders to get in touch using the company’s hello@haikocycling.com email address.
