Portadown Football Club announces departure of Paul Doolin

Portadown have announced the departure of Paul Doolin with the club rooted to the bottom of the Irish Premiership.

The Shamrock Park outfit confirmed on Tuesday night that Doolin had left the Ports by mutual consent.

Doolin was appointed interim manager in January and kept Portadown in the Premiership following a relegation play-off win over Annagh United.

He was handed the reins on a permanent basis in May but this season the Ports have failed to win a league game in 11 attempts to sit bottom of the table.

Doolin said upon his exit: “I wish to place on record my sincere thanks to the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Directors, Back room staff, the General Manager and all connected with the club for their help & assistance during my time at club and I’m grateful for the opportunity to manage one of my former clubs.

"I wish the club all the best and hope they go on to achieve every success.”

Portadown added that the club thanked Doolin for his "efforts during his time as manager and wish him well for the future".
