Oxford United winger Joel Cooper has joined Port Vale on loan for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old's game time has been limited with Oxford this season, scoring two goals in five appearances across all competitions.
Two of those appearances were in League One, but he hasn't featured in Karl Robinson's first-team plans since November.
Former Irish League winger Cooper has now dropped down a division to League Two to help Port Vale in their promotion push.
Vale boss Darrell Clarke told the club's website: “Joel is a versatile winger who can play on either side, he’s a good ball traveller and he arrives with a good goalscoring record.
"We’ve obviously lost Dennis Politic who was a goal scorer, and this boy can score goals, something he’s shown with his form in Ireland and we’re looking forward to him fitting into the group very well.
"We’ve lost a lot of players this January, we’ve suffered from an unbelievable amount of injuries and Covid cases over the last 12 weeks and we’ve got a lot of games coming up, so this addition adds more competition for places and gives us another good wide option, with a lad who can play in three or four positions, which is a big strength.”
Cooper joined Oxford from Linfield in the summer of 2020 but returned for a loan spell with the Blues last season to help the club win the double.
The former Glenavon winger has also represented Northern Ireland at underage level.
Port Vale currently sit 10th in League Two, five points outside the play-off spots but with games in hand over the clubs above them.
