Porsche 911 Carrera T finds new ways to shine

Porsche Thailand is accepting orders for the 911 Carrera T with a starting price of 11.5 million baht.

The Carrera T is the latest addition to the 911 line-up representing a lightweight option, and will reach Thailand by April next year. According to a press release from Porsche Thailand, the T stands for touring and describes models that offer a purist driving experience with exceptionally sporty equipment, tracing back to the homologation of the first 911 T as a touring car in 1968.

While the first 911 T was offered only until 1973, in 2017 Porsche revived the purist 911 variant with the 911 Carrera T of the 991 model line. Since then, the concept of the stripped-down, yet exceptionally sporty setup has been successfully brought to other model lines with the 718 Cayman T, the 718 Boxster T and the Macan T.

The new 911 Carrera T is positioned between the 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S. It is powered by a bi-turbo flat-six capable of pumping out 385hp and 450Nm, propelling the car from 0-100kph in 4.5sec and to a top speed of 291kph.

The 911 Carrera T with manual transmission is the lightest series 911, weighing in 35kg lighter than the 911 Carrera with standard 8-speed PDK gearbox. Porsche says that apart from the omitted back seats and reduced insulation, lightweight glass and battery help reduce weight further.

A Sport Chrono package and PASM sports suspension (10mm lower) comes as standard, and can also be ordered with optional rear-axle steering that's usually reserved for models from the Carrera S and above.

T-specific package includes 20 and 21in titanium grey Carrera S wheels with 245/35 and 305/30 tyres. There's also a GT sports steering wheel, powered Sports Seats Plus and sports exhaust system.

In terms of styling, the 911 Carrera T stands out with dark grey accentuating details. Contrasting elements such as the top and bottom trim on the exterior mirrors, the new door logos and the rear logos, and the trim strips on the rear lid grille feature agate grey. The windscreen also features a grey top tint. Meanwhile, the tailpipes of the sports exhaust system are in high-gloss black.

The interior features matte black trim and decorative inlays in high-gloss black, plus several additional options from the Carrera T interior package such as coloured seatbelts and stitching, leather upholstery. Seats can also be upgraded to 18-way adaptive sports seats or even a lightweight full bucket seats for circuit driving.
