A sniffer dog found 9 kilogrammes of pork sausages in a passenger's suitcase that arrived on a flight from Hanoi, Vietnam, on Sunday.
The illegal import was found by a diligent Beagle of the Quarantine and Inspection Canine Unit of the Department of Livestock Development.
The sausages, or moo yor, were seized.
Imports of meat products without a permit are banned under measures to prevent the spread of African swine fever (ASF), under Section 31 of the Animal Disease Control Act of 2015.
If it gained a foothold, ASF could cause major damage to the pork industry and the country's economy as a whole.
Samples of the seized pork sausage were taken for testing.
No details were released about the passenger who booked the luggage on the flight.
