A popular restaurant in Edinburgh has been named one of the best brunch spots in the whole of the UK.

Featuring eateries in places like London, Manchester and Bath, the list from DesignMyNight aims to highlight spots perfect for "lazy mornings and egg-fuelled feasts".

The Edinburgh eatery named one of the best brunch spots in the UK was Laila on Cockburn Street.

Discussing the Scottish restaurant and diner, DesignMyNight said: "If you're seeking a flavour-packed brunch without breaking the bank, head to Laila Cockburn Street in Edinburgh.

"Not only will you get to chow down on a delicious variety of Middle Eastern brekky dishes, but also take in laid-back interiors."

According to patrons on Tripadvisor, the 4.5/5 restaurant serves a range of brunch essentials, including eggs benedict and espresso martinis.

One visitor said: "Had a breakfast reservation here and loved the whole experience! I got the ruby waffles, my mom got the Nutella banana pancakes. Waffles were amazing! Pancakes had a little too much Nutella on top for our liking.

"Coffee was the best I had in Edinburgh the whole 3 days. I wish I had time to return before leaving town!"

Another said: "Lovely little stop on the street! Had some breakfast and a little iced coffee, great views to people-watch.

"We had smoked salmon eggs Benedict, shakshouska and a side of haggis to try. Really cute vibes.

"Great music and a lovely iced latte. Would love to come back and sit at the table on the window and read away."
