A POPULAR sushi restaurant in Edinburgh has announced its shock closure.
Umai Sushi and Ramen Kitchen in the capital is known for its range of dishes, including maki, ramen, katsu curry and poke bowls.
The business was originally located on Queensferry Street but moved to Dalry last March.
In a statement on social media, bosses said: “Dear Edinburgh, come 2025, we will be closing our doors for the last and final time.
“We wanted to share our gratitude to everyone who enjoyed a visit with us and showed their support in our venture. It’s been our pleasure.
“Wishing everyone a safe and happy new year. Thank you and farewell, the team at Umai along Daly Road.”
Locals were left gutted with one saying it was their “favourite sushi place ever” and another saying it had the “best sushi in town”.
“What? Best sushi in the city,” a third person commented.
