A restaurant in Merseyside was given the highest rating by food inspectors after a damming report earlier in the year.
In May the popular Chinese restaurant Nine Dragons in Aintree was given a one-star hygiene rating by Sefton Council. The restaurant was told that "major improvements" were necessary in "management of food safety".
This includes an assessment of systems and checks in place to ensure food is safe to eat, evidence that staff knows about food safety, and the food safety officer’s confidence that standards will be maintained in the future. After requesting a follow-up inspection Nine Dragons which has a 4.5 rating on Trip Advisor has now received a five-star hygiene rating the highest that can be awarded by Sefton Council.

In the reinspection, the Nine Dragons were given top marks across the board their highest rating since 2014. One key area "food hygiene compliance" which assesses how food is handled, prepared, cooked, and, stored the inspector said that "good practices" were being used.
The "structural compliance" of the restaurant which evaluates how clean the building and facilities are, and whether the lighting is suitable was also assessed. Inspectors stated that the premises and equipment were "clean" and the food preparation was in "good order".
The other area assessed was "confidence in management" which judges the capability of the management team reviewing food safety practices, cleaning records, and whether the staff is appropriately trained or not. In this are the Nine Dragons which offers a £36 duck and £19 fillet stake received the highest rating.
A spokesperson from Nine Dragons said: "We are delighted to advertise that following Sefton councils follow-up visit to our premises we have been issued a Food Hygiene Rating of five. The whole team at Nine Dragons is determined to continuously provide the best Chinese food to our loyal clientele."
