A popular Leeds hair salon has announced its closure after nine years.
Owners of Fusion Hair Design, also known as FHD, based in Langbar Retail Centre, Swarcliffe, Leeds, said it has been "a task trying to keep things on an even keel" recently. Like many businesses, FHD has struggled on the back of the Covid-19 pandemic and the rising cost of living crisis.
In the past 12 months the city of Leeds has lost many popular businesses. Some include Yard and Coop, The Black Market, Meat Is Dead, Victoria Secret, George's Great British Kitchen, Different Gravy, Hamleys, Sant Angelos, and Golaccio.
FHD has now joined the long list of businesses which have struggled. The last day of business was on Saturday, February 18, but owners announced the news three days later.
Announcing the news, owner Craig said: "It’s with great regret I have to inform you all that FHD Leeds closed its doors for the last time on Sat 18th February! It’s been a task trying to keep things on an even keel ever since the pandemic with rising energy costs and price increases as well as demand for services on the decline....
"It hasn’t been an easy decision by any means but there has to be a point where you have to be logical about things when the maths don’t add up. It very sad but it’s unfortunately a sign of the times. Myself and Leona have worked together for 9 years and it’s been a very sad affair to say goodbye.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our loyal clients for their continued support over the years and are very sorry to have to give you this sad news. I will be looking at doing some hair mobile so if you are wanting anything done from home you can still contact me (Craig) on here until we close it down. Once again thank you everyone for the last 9 years, lots of love, Craig."
FHD was inundated with five-star reviews over the years. Customers have shared their sadness following the news of the closure. Angela Birkett said: "So sorry Craig. Wishing you all the luck in the future."
Nicola Esson added: "So so sorry to hear that yet another small business has closed its doors. Wishing all the luck in the world in your next venture." Hollie Evans said: "Aw I am sorry! Hope you're OK." Elizabeth Oates added: "Sorry to read this Craig. It's tough out there."
Rachel Ann said: "I was very sorry to hear this on Saturday. It is such a shame. Wishing you all the best." And Denise Oliver said: "I am so so sorry to hear this, I have loved you doing my hair loved coming to the shop loved you as well you always looked after me."
