Popular Lanarkshire restaurant closes its doors with immediate effect

A popular eatery transformed at the start of the pandemic has been forced to close.

The Auldhouse Arms on the outskirts of East Kilbride was taken over by new owners in 2019, opening its doors in March 2020.

However, it has been blighted with bad luck during a tumultuous period, with the pandemic and associated restrictions affecting its ability to trade in full until last Spring.

That was followed by the cost of living increase, which has affected all walks of life, especially the hospitality industry.

Taking to social media today (Wednesday), they posted: “Unfortunately, with a heavy heart and great sadness, we’re sorry to announce that we will be closing the doors of the Auldhouse Arms restaurant, with immediate effect.

“The bar will remain open, but the restaurant will be closed temporarily.

“We would like to thank everyone for the continued support over the past three years.

After an extensive refurbishment lasting four months, the restaurant was reintroduced as ‘The Allus’ in a nod to the bar’s local nickname.

A hammer-blow to the local community, locals will be hoping the restaurant can open again soon.

In their parting shot, the restaurant posted: “We are definitely going to miss our regulars and wish each and every one of our customers all the very best for the future.

“If you have vouchers please PM us & we will get back to you.

“Thanks Again.”
