Popular hoodie sold in Ireland urgently recalled over ‘risk of strangulation’

A popular hoodie sold in Ireland has been urgently recalled over safety fears.

The North Face has pulled its Teen’s Oversized Hoodie from sale, and encouraged any customer who bought one to return it for a refund.

It’s understood that around 68 hoodies were sold in recent months across Ireland.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission issued a recall notice for the item on Wednesday.

It reads: “The North Face is carrying out a recall of the Teens’ Oversized Hoodie.

“The risk associated with the product is that of strangulation. The product has drawstrings with free ends in the hood. Drawstrings can become trapped during various activities of a child leading to strangulation.

"There are approximately 68 affected products in the Republic of Ireland."

The hoodie was available to purchase from July 2022. It has a product code 7X4U.

The North Face is asking customers who bought the hoodie to stop wearing it immediately, and return it for a full refund.

"Wearer safety is top priority for The North Face. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
