A popular Edinburgh Old Town restaurant is set to expand to include new seating as well as a delicatessen.
Hanam’s, a popular Kurdish and Middle-Eastern restaurant, is currently going through the council’s planning process to convert its unused shop space into new seating as well as the deli.
The plans is to take the currently unused former sports trophy shop on the upper floors of their building and convert it into more seating for the popular Edinburgh eatery, while retaining the existing restaurant shop front.

The plans also include a proposal to convert some of the ancillary workshop space in the lower grounds of the building into a delicatessen, accessed through the neighbouring Victoria Street.
The new plans would have a new restaurant seating area of 52 square metres on the upper floor of the building, accessed through Johnston Terrace, with internal stairs leading down to the lower floor of the building that includes the kitchen and new delicatessen.
If the plans go ahead, the delicatessen will also be accessible on the lower level from Victoria Street.
As the proposal goes through the planning process, neighbours who will be affected by the necessary work have now been notified with a leafleting campaign for the surrounding area.
The public was also open to comment on the proposed development but the deadline for such comments passed on June 1, with no public comments being submitted.
The proposal is set to be determined by Edinburgh City Council on June 18.
