A popular 23-year-old DJ has been found dead inside a suitcase dumped in a skip after she was strangled and dumped in a skip.
Valentina Trespalacios was found dead on January 22 with police now looking to locate her boyfriend, John Poulos.
Police say Trespalacios was throttled after an autopsy found deep grooves in her neck, which could have been caused by strangulation.
Her body was found by a member of the public, who opened a suitcase he found in a skip before making the horrifying discovery in Bogota, Colombia. He was horrified to find the young woman's body folded up inside and called police.
Forensics went on to find items belonging to Trespalacios dumped alongside her body, including a student ID card from Uninpahu University, where Valentina was reportedly studying trade and global business technology.
Her American boyfriend, John Poulos, 35, from Texas, has been missing since cops made the shocking discovery in the Fontibon area, and he has also deleted his social media accounts. Local media report that he is the prime suspect.
The pair had been dating for a year.
According to reports, the couple had gone to a party with Poulos, who had allegedly travelled from his home to the Colombian capital to propose to her.
He had been dating the popular DJ, who has nearly 16,000 followers on Instagram.
Autopsy results showed the she had a "pressure groove in the hyoid region" but no other visible signs of violence.
Police are now trying to confirm if he has fled the country.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Camilo Torres told local media: "Work is being carried out with security cameras in the area to identify the alleged perpetrators."
Trespalacios' uncle Carlos Trespalacios said of his niece: "She was a national and international DJ with a great future, she was hired by the best clubs in Bogota and the country and she also had the opportunity to go to other South American countries."
