Popular Clontarf restaurant permanently closes after eight years in business

Popular Clontarf restaurant Pigeon House has shut its doors after nearly eight years in business.

The restaurant, located at 11b Vernon Avenue, said on social media that the "current industry climate" was a contributing factor, but added that "nothing is beautiful because it lasts forever".

They wrote: "And we feel that our run has come to an end. Although our hearts are heavy, we feel blessed to have chased our passion for nearly 8 years.

"We will be forever grateful to all our staff, past and present, for all the customer support and love over the years. We are feeling positive for the future and wish you all the best."

They finished by wishing the new owners of the premises "every success in the future".

Customers expressed their sadness at the news, with one saying: "So so sorry to see you go - such lovely times, great food and the best staff."

Another wrote: "I'm really sorry to hear this..... Always loved the pigeon house and the crew there. Wishing Dave, Brian and all the team the very best of luck in your next adventures."

A third said: "Really sorry to see you go, glad I came in for a great dinner recently! Best of luck in your next venture!"
