Popular city centre café announces closure as it struggles to bounce back from the pandemic

A Manchester cafe bar inspired by Scandinavian culture has announced its closure - citing issues faced by the hospitality industry in the wake of Covid-19. Lättsam, a Scandi-style eatery serving artisan coffee and food, was opened by some of the team behind brewery Beatnikz Republic in December 2020.

Located on Spring Gardens, in the heart of Manchester’s busy business district, the cafe bar opened its doors fully in July 2021 and served IKEA-style meatballs to mark the occasion. But owners took to Instagram to announce the sad news that it has closed for good this past weekend.

Fans were devastated to read the news, and shared their sadness at the announcement in the comments, with one person calling it “the best little retreat in town”. The closure comes just weeks after vegan burger bar Frost Burgers announced its shock closure, with owners blaming the cost of living crisis.
