A safety notice has been issued for a popular children’s toy sold on eBay Ireland.
Fears of ‘choking and damage to hearing risk’ have been identified by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission over a set of rubber ducks sold on the online site.
They said: "A safety issue has been identified with a set of rubber ducks sold on the eBay platform.
"The risk associated with the product is that of choking and damage to hearing.
"The brand is unknown. The type/number of model is unknown. The batch number and the barcode are unknown.
"The product was sold online through the eBay platform."
Anyone who bought the affected product is asked to stop using it immediately.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission continued: "Given the online availability of this product, it may have been sold to customers in the Republic of Ireland.
"If you purchased one of these products, please discontinue use immediately, discard the product immediately and keep it out of the reach of children.
"You may wish to contact the online store from where you purchased this product to see if there are any remedies available to you.
"This can be done via your user account on the relevant platform."
Other safety notices were issued last week after Argos were forced to recall popular LED light strips after selling thousands across the country.
The RED5 2M LED Light Strips were sold in Ireland were found to have a faulty battery compartment in the remote.
This led to the battery compartment of the remote not locking in some cases which allows for easy access to the dangerous battery.
If ingested, the battery could cause serious burns to internal organs.
The affected products were manufactured between June - August 2021 and were available from Argos, and other distributors.
There are around 3,428 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
If you purchased one of these products, the CCPC have urged you to "discontinue use immediately", and return it to your local Argos store for a full refund. A receipt will not be required.
