Popular cash and carry in St Ann's announces closure after 28 years of trading

Managers of a cash and carry on the main road through St Ann's have announced the shop's closure after 28 years of trading. In a statement, they confirmed I.C. Discounts, in St Ann's Well Road, shut earlier this month.

And staff moved to inform customers in a heartfelt message on the firm's Facebook page. "We would like to thank all of our customers over the 28 years for their custom," a spokesman for I.C. Discounts said.

"Hopefully we will see you all in the Derby store." In reply, on customer wrote: 'It's a shame it had to go.'"

The business, which has another cash and carry shop in Upper Boundary Road, on the outskirts of Derby city centre, was founded in 1980. On its website, staff said the business was one of the first discount shops in the UK.

The firm is known for stocking children’s toys, cooking equipment, cleaning supplies, tools and confectionery.
