Almondsbury Garden Centre has announced major plans to reopen a new restaurant on site this year. The South Gloucestershire garden centre just off the M5 near Cribbs Causeway closed its dining facility at the start of the pandemic and it hasn't reopened since.
It's earmarked to reopen for spring but there is no exact launch date for the grand opening. The garden centre has said it will be releasing regular updates on the progress of the new restaurant.
In an update shared on social media, the garden centre said: "We know it's taken longer than we all would like, but work has officially started on our new dining facility here at Almondsbury. Opening in spring 2023, weekly updates starting in the new year!"

The post attached pictures of mock-up designs of what the new restaurant will look like. It shows a large seating area and what appears to be a glass roof resembling a greenhouse structure. It will be equipped with a kitchen able to serve hot meals, with its full menu to be confirmed closer to opening.
The news was met with a warm welcome from customers in the comments on the post - with one person stating that they "couldn't wait" for it to reopen. Another said that they were "looking forward to seeing how it progresses over the coming months".
Almondsbury Garden Centre is Bristol's largest independent garden centre and one of the longest-serving in the city, having first opened more than 80 years ago. With the closure of the cafe at the start of the pandemic, it started selling fresh produce and basic grocery items for residents in need of essentials during lockdown.
