A huge brewery taproom will open its doors in Manchester next year - and it’s sooner than you might think. Leeds-based brewery, North Brewing Co, will open its doors on Oxford Road in January - the tenth venue for the brand.
The taproom is the latest addition to the Circle Square development just over from Oxford Road Station, which has welcomed a string of new food and drink venues over the last year including Hello Oriental, Canvas, and Tahi. North Brewing Co will be opening the doors to their brand-new taproom on Tuesday, January 3 at 11am.
North Taproom will be housed within a modern glass building, and will showcase the brand’s core range, alongside an ever-changing line-up of beers, wines, cocktails, ciders and spirits from a range of local and international producers. Seating 100 people, plus a further 30 standing, there will also be an outside terrace area overlooking the green event space at Circle Square.

“Our new bar in Manchester marks a huge milestone for all of us at North,” said brewery co-founder John Gyngell. “We’ve actually been looking for a Manchester site for the last 25 years and have come very close a number of times!
“Many of the North team have lived, worked or studied in Manchester, and we make a habit of visiting as regularly as possible. The hospitality scene in Manchester has provided tonnes of inspiration over the years, and we can’t wait to bring North to the city.”
The bar will boast 24 draught lines including 18 lines of keg beer, and the taproom will collaborate with a number of other local breweries including Manchester’s Track Brewing to celebrate the opening of the new bar. Alongside beers, visitors will also be able to enjoy North’s house-made negroni, a rotating selection of cocktails, as well as wine and fizz.
A small, but curated line up of wines by the bottle will also be available, showcasing natural wine producers and innovative techniques, and there will be a line of low-and-no- alcohol options. Food wise, fellow Leeds-based brand Little Bao Boy will be serving up contemporary Asian street food from ‘early until late’. Their menu features light, fluffy steamed bao buns filled with slow cooked beef brisket, crispy fried chicken, crunchy panko aubergine, plus crispy gyoza, steaming bowls of noodles and loaded fries.
North Brewing Co’s Head of Marketing, Sarah Hardy said: “We are ridiculously excited to finally announce the opening date of our taproom at Circle Square in Manchester. Manchester is one of our favourite cities in the world, and has provided North with so much inspiration from its thriving food and drink scene. We’re joining an incredible line up of bars and taprooms in the city, and can’t wait to be part of the growth of the new Circle Square development.”
Earlier this year it was also confirmed that a new burger spot called Boo, which already had branches in Leicester, Loughborough and Nottingham, as well as new spots coming to Birmingham, Derby and Preston, would be coming to Circle Square.
The burger brand will offer a range of smashed burgers, chicken burgers, plant-based options, wings and shakes. It will also offer diners a selection of breakfast brioche rolls. It joins a host of new outlets at Circle Square, including Federal, Bird of Prey and Tsujiri.
North Taproom at Circle Square will open on Tuesday, January 3 at 11am. Monday to Thursday it will be open 11am until 11.30pm, Friday and Saturdays 11.30am until 12.30pm and Sundays 11am until 10pm.
