Popular Ayrshire harbourside restaurant reopens after smart terrace conversion

A popular Ayrshire restaurant has reopened following an expansion to house more guests.

Irvine harbourside diner Niche has welcomed customers back after working on a brand new extension.

Bosses have increased the capacity at the quirky food spot by adding space for an extra 18 punters.

Work has also been carried out on extending their kitchen and bar, both famed for putting out inventive grub and cocktails.

Ayrshire foodies were treated to the news that their favourite haunt was reopening this week.

Niche shared a picture of the new extension, explaining that they had converted their side terrace to add the extra space.

A post on the venue's Facebook page read: "And just like that. We have converted our side terrace into the restaurant knocked through a massive wall and made it happen. (We) couldn’t be happier.

"Thank you to everyone who has ever visited. And especially to all the tradesmen to help make it happen. I’ll do a shout out post over next few days."

Ayrshire Live previously told how the restaurant was forced to close for two weeks to allow the revamp to go ahead.

General manager Kenny Hepburn said at the time how he hoped the expansion would stop people from being turned away and "left disappointed."

Kenny previously said: "We can fill the restaurant five times over most days - which is a great problem to have but I don't like disappointing people so the extra space is exciting."

Niche has been on the go for six years and quickly became a firm favourite on the Ayrshire foodie map.

The varied menu ranges from towering calorific burgers to classic mains and traditional Scottish fayre.

The eaterie is also famed for variety of drinks and cocktails.

Bosses have teased that new additions could soon be coming to the menu as part of the latest changes.

Customers were left delighted with the fresh new look.

Martine Rachel commented: "Fantastic! What a transformation and in such a short time. Well done to all involved. It's looking beautiful and very inviting."

Stuart Galbraith said: "Looks brilliant, can't wait to come back."
