90s popstar Lee Brennan has drink thrown in his face by rowdy concert-goer

Popstar Lee Brennan from 90s boyband 911, was left shocked and shaken after he had a drink thrown in his face while performing at a recent gig in Coventry.

The nineties hit-maker, 48, was left flabbergasted when the incident took place at Rialto Plaza last Saturday.

The group, who championed the charts in the early to late nineties with eight top five singles, were in the middle of their set when one audience member flung an alcoholic drink in lead singer Lee's face.

Despite looking visibly shocked on stage, Lee showed his professionalism and quickly wiped the alcohol from his eyes before carrying on with the concert.

The lead singer did however clap back once the song was finished.

Understandably frustrated, at the situation, the 911 front-man asked the crowd: “Who did that?” before he boldly threw his drink back in the direction of the person who had drenched him after nobody in the audience owned up to the rowdy move.

Speaking to Coventry Live, one concert-goer explained: "911 were halfway through their performance when someone tossed their drink towards the stage which soaked the lead singer. You could see Lee was shocked.

"He looked frustrated and decided to chuck his drink back at the audience. He went to grab a towel and dry his face.

"It looked like the drink had got into his eyes. Lee handled it really well though and kept performing."

The English pop group consisting of Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Simon 'Spike' Dawbarn were formed in London in 1995 and released their debut single 'Night to Remember' in May 1996.

This was followed by their debut album The Journey in March 1997, which was certified Gold by the BPI in November 1997.

In their five years together, 911 scored ten UK top 10 singles.

They sold 10 million singles and 6 million albums around the world, and were immensely popular in South East Asia, where their first two albums went to number one.

The band ultimately split in late 1999 before their recent reunion tour.

Rialto Plaza has been approached for comment.
