Armed police were deployed after a triple stabbing in an east London chicken shop in the early hours of Monday.

Three men were set upon by men armed with knives inside a chicken shop on Chrisp Street Market, Poplar. The motive for the attack is unclear.

All three stabbing victims were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Scotland Yard described the injuries sustained by two of the men as “non-life changing” and said a third had “non-life threatening” injuries.

Officers on patrol in nearby East India Dock Road were approached by two of the victims shortly after midnight who told them they had been stabbed during an altercation.

Police then found the third victim.

A Met spokesperson told the Standard: “Officers, including firearms officers, were deployed to the area following the incident to prevent any further violence. None were reported.

“An investigation into what took place is under way. At this early stage there have been no arrests.”

Two crime scenes were established, one at the food outlet and another on East India Dock Road, while forensics work is underway.
