Pope Leo gifted ball from White Sox World Series game he attended 21 years ago

White Sox Leo XIV World Series AJ Pierzynski

Pope Leo XIV , a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan, has received a significant piece of team history from former player A.J. Pierzynski.
Pierzynski presented the pontiff with the baseball from the final out of Game 1 of the 2005 World Series.
The future Pope Leo XIV was famously captured on camera cheering from the stands during that specific 2005 World Series game.
This baseball adds to Pope Leo's growing collection of White Sox memorabilia, which includes a signed jersey and a game-used bat.
The White Sox are planning a special tribute to the pontiff on 11th August, where fans will receive pope-themed hats.
