Despite the New Orleans Saints' struggles on the football field this season, they have found an unexpected supporter in Pope Francis. Due to an automatic function on Twitter, the team's fleur-de-lis emoji is automatically added to the hashtag #Saints, leading to some confusion among followers of the Pope's account. The Pope's tweets about saints have inadvertently been linked to the football team, sparking increased engagement on social media.
Saints fans have been vocal about their team's disappointing performance, including a seven-game losing streak and the recent firing of Coach Dennis Allen. The firing was met with mixed reactions, with some fans even jokingly suggesting that even the Pope was excited about the change in leadership.
