Newcastle United couldn't find a way through Brighton at the Amex - and had to be grateful for two goalline clearances and an excellent performance from goalkeeper Nick Pope for a goalless draw.
Callum Wilson thought he had opened the scoring for the visitors when he lofted the ball over Lewis Dunk before slotting home, but play was brought back for what was deemed a high foot.
Newcastle were pressing for a way through, with Miguel Almiron firing over the bar shortly after the drinks break. Brighton almost found an opener when March's effort was cleared off the line by Trippier.
Alexis MacAllister was shown a yellow card for a foul on Almiron as neither side took a firm grip on the game.

Nick Pope produce an excellent save to keep Brighton out shortly after the break, doing well to block Lallana from close range. Joelinton and Solly March squared up after a tussle in the corner, with both players receiving yellow cards.
Dan Burn headed narrowly over for Newcastle from a corner, before doing well to block Danny Welbeck at the other end. But it was that man Pope again who denied March with another superb save as Brighton pressed.
Newcastle introduced Jacob Murphy and Sean Longstaff for Saint-Maximin and Willock as Howe looked to spark a change. It took another goalline clearance, this time from Fabian Schar to preserve the clean sheet, the Swiss defender clearing Veltman's shot.
Here's how Lee Ryder has rated the Newcastle players.
Nick Pope 9
Faced seven shots on target and made key saves in each half to justify his selection.
Kieran Trippier 8
A crucial clearance off the line saved United by millimetres in the opening 45 minutes. All part of a tidy display from the skipper.
Fabian Schar 7
A less spectacular clearance near the line helped keep the scores level. Headed away time after time.
Sven Botman 7
A tidy and assured debut. But will get better by the game.
Dan Burn 7
Slotted in at left-back to make a big contribution against his old club.
Joelinton 8
Refuses to be beaten in midfield battles. Another strong display.
Bruno Guimaraes 7
Deep lying role again. Did well enough but not at his very best.
Joe Willock 6
Plenty of notable defensive work but couldn't provide spark from midfield that was needed. Will have better games.
Allan Saint-Maximin 6
A frustrating day for the winger as nothing really came off for him, Also booked for simulation.
Miguel Almiron 7
Plenty of hard work but couldn't find a breakthrough. Had 41 touches in all.
Callum Wilson 7
Work-rate can't be faulted and could have had a goal but for harsh call on a high foot on Dunk.
Subs
Sean Longstaff 6 (for Willock 75)
Jacob Murphy 6 (for Saint-Maximin 75)
