Following the sad news that Julie's Kopitiam was set to close after owner and chef Julie Lin posted the "fondest of farewells" on social media, it's been revealed who will be taking over the popular site in Shawlands.
The team at Thai Street Food specialists Chawp Pet Noi have announced they will be setting up shop, posting on Facebook and Instagram they hope to open their doors for the first time in mid-March.
Writing on Facebook following Julie's announcement, they said: "As some of you may well be aware, Julie’s Kopitiam announced earlier today that they will finally shut their doors after five years of providing outstanding Malaysian cuisine to you all, we know that they will be sadly missed as they have been somewhat of an institution in the local community.

"However, when one door closes, another one opens, therefore we think it's about time to let you all in on a little secret, something we have been biting our tongue about for the past couple of weeks.
"It is now official that Chawp Pet Noi will be taking over the reins at 1109 Pollokshaws road - we get the keys at the end of January and after some light renovation works, we will aim to open our brand new takeaway store in mid-March."
The street food team added that they are "very excited" about the opportunity and are looking forward to offering "authentic Thai street food, decent music, lots of plants and copious amounts of chillies."
You can expect tasty Thai dishes like Prik Khing Gai, Moo Grob Makham and Chicken Satay Gai.
They added: "We are extremely excited to have this opportunity and we believe our food can help fill the void that Julie and her staff's departure will leave behind. After all, Thai food isn’t so dissimilar to Malaysian. We look forward to welcoming you all along to Chawp Pet Noi in 2023."
