Pop-up shop opens in aid of Cancer Research

A ‘pop-up’ Cancer Research charity shop opened in Livingston Designer Outlet this week as part of the mall’s partnership with the cancer charity.

The new store is the first of its kind, located on the lower mall; it will be open from now up until February 19.

The pop-up shop is selling a range of fashion items and accessories donated by the charity’s extended network of supporters - with most of the stock having never been worn.

Joining the team to open the Cancer Research UK shop at the outlet was Scottish Fashion influencer, Hayley Daines.

Hayley, who’s content revolves around sustainable fashion, commented on the store opening.

She said: “Cancer Research UK is an amazing charity and one I am delighted to support.

“I recognise the invaluable work the organisation does day after day.

“It was great fun to officially open the pop up and have a rummage at the same time!

“I’m a big fan of sustainable fashion and always on the lookout for good quality pieces and charity shops are often a great place to uncover some unwanted gems!”

Livingston Designer Outlet will be working with Cancer Research UK throughout 2022 in a series of partnered fundraising events.

The outlet also currently runs a ‘donation station’ - where shoppers can donate bags of unwanted clothes in return for a 10 per cent off voucher redeemable at participating stores in the outlet throughout February.

Cancer Research UK runs 77 shops and four superstores across Scotland.

The charity relies on donations from the public to help generate vital funds to support its life saving work.

Carrie Lennon, Cancer Research UK fundraising spokesperson for West Lothian, said:

“The pop up shop to raise vital funds for life-saving research is a fantastic initiative.

“We can’t thank the Livingston Designer Outlet staff, Hayley and customers enough for playing their part in helping to beat cancer.

“Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of that progress.

“However, we have only been able to achieve this thanks to the dedication and generosity of supporters.

“One in two of us will get cancer in our lifetime. All of us can support the research that will beat it.”

Cancer Research UK supports research into all aspects of cancer through the work of over 4000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

The company’s vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
