Pop star Aaron Carter dies at 34 - reports

Pop star Aaron Carter has died at the age of 34, according to reports coming out of the US. The singer and actor is said to have been found unresponsive in the bathtub at his home in California.

TMZ reports that emergency services were called on Saturday morning. It shared a photo it said was of sheriffs' cars and paramedics outside his home, with police tape around the property.

A representative of Carter’s team confirmed the news to the PA news agency and said they are still determining the cause of death. They said: “We’re just as upset as everybody and hope that fans can give their thoughts and prayers to his family.”

Los Angeles County Police Department also confirmed to PA that officers attended Carter’s residence at 4200 LA Vista Drive in Lancaster, California, on Saturday, and found someone dead.

Aaron, the brother of Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter, shot to fame in the 1990s and released four studio albums. His self-titled debut album came out in 1997 when he was just nine.

His fame grew after he opened for the Backstreet Boys on tour when he was 10. The star is known for songs including I Want Candy, Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” and That’s How I Beat Shaq.
