Pop duo Aly & AJ reveal their tour bus was ‘caught in the crossfire’ during shooting in Sacramento

Pop duo Aly & AJ revealed they were forced to shelter in place during a mass shooting in Sacramento, California, over the weekend that left six people dead and several others wounded.

The former Disney darlings, Allison and Amanda Michalka, had just wrapped up a performance at the Crest Theatre in the California city’s downtown area not long before the gunfire broke out early Sunday. The show was part of their 2022 “A Touch of the Beat Tour,” which resumed on Monday.

“Our bus was caught in the crossfire but we sheltered in place and everyone in our touring group is ok. Thank you for everyone reaching out,” the sisters said in a tweet Sunday.

“A reminder to keep your loved ones extra close today. We have to do something about gun violence in this country.”

The pair added that they have been left “distraught” since the incident and that they are thinking of “the families of those who lost their lives and those recovering today. We’re praying for the health care workers caring for them.”

“We hope all our fans made it home safe,” the pair concluded.

Gunfire erupted in Sacramento around 2 a.m. on Sunday. According to authorities, more than 100 bullets were unleashed following a large fight in the downtown area.

Three men and three women were killed, including Sergio Harris, 38; Johntaya Alexander, 21; Melinda Davis, 57; Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21; Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32; and De’vazia Turner, 29.

Several more people were wounded in the chaos, including four with critical injuries, police said.

On Monday, authorities announced the arrest of Dandrae Martin in connection with the massacre. He’s facing charges including assault with a firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.
