Bells Beach is failing to fire again, meaning another lay day at the Rip Curl Pro.
Eleven-time world champion Kelly Slater and defending event title-holder Tyler Wright are among the surfers anxiously awaiting competition to resume, with the elimination rounds next.
It's the third lay day since the event waiting-period started on Tuesday and it's unclear how much competition will be possible over the Easter long weekend.
All round-one heats went ahead on Thursday, but the event had to shift to the neighbouring Winkipop break.
"Unfortunately, after we had such an incredible end to the day yesterday, the swell has dropped and we've got fairly strong onshore winds," World Surf League sport chief Jessi Miley-Dyer said.
"The good news is that because we ran such a big day yesterday, we are in a good position to pick the best conditions for the remainder of the (event) window.
"The forecast suggests we should have good waves for the end of the event."
Slater and Wright were the two biggest names forced into the elimination round when they finished third in their heats.
Wright's Australian compatriot Callum Robson, who made the semi-finals of the most recent tour event in Portugal, also risks an early exit from the Rip Curl Pro.
