Poor communication for dying patients causing ‘avoidable distress’

Dying people and their loved ones are being “let down” by poor communication – which is “adding to their grief”, an ombudsman has warned.

The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman said that breakdowns in communication can impact the immediate care of a patient and also lead to “severe consequences” for their families.
