Brentford defender Pontus Jansson has insisted he ‘200 per cent’ wants to win against his former Leeds United side on Sunday. Jansson spent three seasons at the Whites before a slightly frosty departure in 2019 when he made the switch down south to the Bees.
During his time at Elland Road, Jansson established himself as somewhat of a fan favourite thanks to his performances on the pitch. While he failed to win promotion with Leeds, the Sweden international was able to achieve his Premier League dream at Brentford after winning the play-offs last season.
Jansson has never been afraid to express his love for Leeds in interviews he has conducted since leaving the club, and even reserved special thanks for the Whites after their 2-0 win over Swansea City at Wembley. But as the final day approaches, Jansson finds himself in a position knowing that he could relegate his former side with a win at the Brentford Community Stadium.

And despite admitting that he would ‘prefer’ Leeds to be safe, he had no hesitation in admitting that his sole focus is on earning a win for Brentford as they push for a top half finish.
Speaking to Brentfordfc.com, he said: “For a few years, when people thought about Leeds, I was the player. Now they have Kalvin Phillips, he’s their cult hero, but back then I was that type of player for them.
“Leeds is my past, I will always respect them and I will always follow them, even if the way I left wasn’t the best. I still have many friends there.
“Leading up to this game, there will be a lot of questions about me and Leeds. I want to win this game, 200 per cent. I want to win no matter what. Of course, I’d prefer that they were already safe, but we want to win this game and finish as high as possible.”
