The New England Patriots will be looking to bounce back in Thursday night’s game against the New York Jets after a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
There have been multiple hot-topic debates surrounding the Patriots, including what to do with the offensive line and how to get the receivers more targets.
The offensive line gave up three sacks and eight quarterback hits on Jacoby Brissett last week, and the receiving corps combined for only three catches and 19 yards.
The defensive side of the ball has fewer questions. They have given up an average of 16.5 points in the last two games and averaged three sacks per game. They have been stingy in terms of run defense as well, allowing an average of 58 rushing yards and 3.3 yards per attempt.
On Thursday night, they will be challenged by a Jets team that is coming off a 24-17 win over the Tennessee Titans. The game will take place at MetLife Stadium, where the Patriots claimed a victory last season. New England hasn’t lost a road game to the Jets since December 2015.
This might be the toughest Jets team they’ve faced since that time with quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading an offense with star receiver Garrett Wilson on it.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Patriots will face a Jets defense that’s been one of the best in the NFL. New England has yet to open up their passing attack, and any lack of confidence in doing so could make the unit one-dimensional in this matchup.
This game sets up to be an entertaining divisional clash between two rivals who have played their fair share of exciting head-to-heads over the years.
