It looks like the Jacksonville Jaguars could end up selecting Aidan Hutchinson first overall in April after retaining tackle Cam Robinson on the franchise tag and signing guard Brandon Scherff to help the offensive line. With their first selection almost set in stone, Jacksonville has a decision to make with what it wants to do with the No. 33 pick.
Do they draft a wide receiver, an interior linebacker, or a player at a different position?
For me, the pick would be spent on a wide receiver to start Round 2. Jacksonville did an excellent job adding weapons in free agency like Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, and Evan Engram for second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence, but still lacks a true WR1.
Some options that could be available for the Jaguars at that pick include Western Michigan’s Skyy Moore, Penn State’s Jahan Dotson, and Georgia’s George Pickens. Moore hauled in 94 catches for 1,291 yards and 10 touchdowns. Dotson grabbed 91 passes for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns. Lastly, Pickens only played 12 games the last two seasons but caught 41 passes for 620 yards and six touchdowns with the Bulldogs after transferring from Auburn.
Jacksonville could also opt for drafting an inside linebacker like Wisconsin’s Leo Chenal or Oklahoma’s Brian Asamoah to pair with free-agent addition Foyesade Oluokun. They now have a potential hole on the roster at the position after releasing linebacker Myles Jack this week as a cap casualty, though they may view someone already on the roster as a potential replacement like Dylan Moses.
It could elect to also just select the best player available regardless of their position. After all, they are coming off a season where their record was the worst in the NFL for a second consecutive year,
Regardless of who they select, it’s clear they need it to be a difference-maker. That said, we would like to hear from our readers on this topic. What do you all think the Jags should do with pick No. 33?
