A recent poll released on Sunday sheds light on the current sentiments of Americans towards Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. The poll indicates that opinions about Vice President Harris are closely split, with 43% viewing her favorably, 43% unfavorably, and 14% having no opinion.
This marks an improvement for Harris from the previous week, where 35% viewed her favorably and 46% unfavorably. On the other hand, former President Trump's rating stands at 36% favorable to 52% unfavorable, slightly down from the previous week but still higher than most of this campaign cycle.
Trump's running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, saw a rise in negative sentiment from 31% unfavorability last week to 39% this week, largely due to a decrease in the share of those who had no opinion of him.
The poll also reveals that 7% of Americans hold negative views of both Harris and Trump, a significant decrease from the 15% reported last week. Additionally, 88% of Democrats express enthusiasm about Harris as the Democratic nominee, while 82% of Republicans are enthusiastic about Trump as the GOP nominee.
Overall, about half of Americans (48%) are enthusiastic about Harris becoming the Democratic nominee, with 39% expressing enthusiasm for Trump as the GOP nominee. The survey did not directly inquire about vote preference.
The poll surveyed 1,200 US adults on July 26-27 using a nationally representative online panel, with results having a margin of error of 3.0 percentage points.
