A policeman who ditched his his bride hours before their wedding has refused to say sorry.
Kallum Norton devastated his fiancée Kayley Stead when he jilted her just before they were due to get married.
Now it has emerged Kallum, 24, is a recently newly-qualified PC with Gwent Police and completed his training just before he left Kayley in the lurch at their planned £12,000 hotel nuptials.
The pair, who had been in a relationship for almost four years and lived together in Swansea, had been due to attend the parade together after getting wed on September 15.
He has reportedly refused to say sorry for his behaviour or if he will apologise to Kayley
Kallum told The Sun: “I don’t want to talk about the article.”
He was based in a caravan near the venue the night before the wedding, but sneaked off in the early hours of the morning.
His father phoned later to explain his son would not turn up.
Insurance clerk Kayley, 27, continued the party as planned and insisted the day was a triumph.
Heartbroken Kayley said: “I don’t expect anything different, but I do expect someone to own their actions and be responsible for what they did.”
The Mirror reported yesterday how Kayley had spent her life savings on the dream wedding.
She discovered she wasn't going to marry her partner of almost four years when he failed to arrive for their nuptials - and her mother-in-law-to-be had to break the news he'd fled.
Despite the heartbreak, Kayley chose to go ahead with the big day on September 15 at Oxwich Bay Hotel in Gower, Swansea, Wales, with her loved ones around her - after spending £12,000 on the celebrations.
Supported by her bridal party and family, Kayley went ahead with her wedding entrance, meal, speeches, dances and even posed for professional photos without the groom.
Kayley who entered the party singing along to Lizzo's 'Good as Hell' with her bridal party, punched off the top tier of her wedding cake.
She spent her first dance with the groomsmen, her brothers, Craig, 47, Matthew, 46, Gary, 46, and another Craig, 43, and her dad, Brian, 71.
Now living alone with no explanation from her ex and her honeymoon cancelled, Kayley is coming to terms with what has happened and is pleased she still had the party.
Kayley, who lives in Portmead, Swansea, Wales, said: "I saw the groom at around 4pm the day before the wedding and I haven't heard from him since.
"We've tried to reach out to him, but I've had no response from him, no reason why. I've had no explanation - not that I want one now, because it's too far along the line."
