Police investigating an attempted burglary at a South Shields home have identified a woman after an appeal.
Officers received a report that a woman had tried to gain access to a property on Claudwell Villas via the front door at around 11.30pm on Friday, August 19. After trying the door handle and failing to gain access, the woman left the area without taking anything.
The incident was later reported to Northumbria Police who launched an investigation into the incident.

Police issued an appeal to the public asking for their help in tracking down a woman believed to be in the area near Cauldwell Villas at the time of the attempted burglary. The force issued an image of a woman who they believed could have information that will assist officers.
In an update, Northumbria Police said they had identified the woman pictured.
