Detectives investigating the death of an elderly man on a popular Queensland tourist strip have released security camera footage of potential witnesses.
John Kerr, 87, was found with severe injuries on Hastings Street at Noosa Heads about 6am on June 18 and died soon after.
Police on Wednesday released security footage of a man they wish to speak to, and three vehicles whose occupants could also provide vital information.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield said the person and the vehicles in the footage were not suspects in the investigation.
"We are hoping to speak to those people as witnesses. The occupants of those vehicles and this gentleman have yet to come forward to speak to us," Det Sen Sgt Mansfield said.
The man detectives want to speak to was captured on camera walking along a pathway near the crime scene at 6am on the morning Mr Kerr was attacked.
CCTV also captured a white Toyota hatchback, a green Holden hatchback, and a dark-coloured sedan being driven along Hastings Street before the incident.
Detectives have appealed to the man and people inside those vehicles, who could be interstate tourists, to contact police.
"Anyone who appears in the vicinity of what we alleged is the offence time, or thereabouts, is critical to us," Det Sen Sgt Mansfield said.
