Merseyside Police have provided an update into their investigation after reports a woman was raped.
A cordon was put in place on Bolton Street, near Riley's sports bar, on Thursday, April 6, after the incident was reported to police. Officers attended at around 1.45am and a man was taken into custody.
A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of raping a woman. The man has now been given conditional bail.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Merseyside police. A spokesperson for the force said: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of a suspected rape in Liverpool in city centre in the early hours of this morning, Thursday 6 April.
"Police were called to Bolton Street at around 1.45am. Officers attended and a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape of a female.
