A horse has died after running onto the A52 near Nottinghamshire. Police said that the horse was thought to have been injured before making its way onto the carriageway in Bottesford in the early hours of Wednesday (June 22) morning.
Leicestershire Police were called to the scene at 1.55am and contacted the owner of the horse, before it was later removed from the road. The A52 was closed eastbound and one lane westbound between the A46 and the A1 for several hours on the same morning.
This was due to a collision, reported by National Highways at around 4am. It said at the time: "National Highways said: "The #A52 is closed eastbound between the #A46 #Saxondale and the #A1 #Barrowby due to a collision. A lane is also closed westbound. More information to follow."
