The video has been widely shared on social media. Later on, it clearly showed the King inside his Rolls Royce waving at the crowds as he made his way to Buckingham Palace from this morning's ceremony at St James's Palace.
A police spokesman later said: "An arrest has been made after a man ran onto the Mall, breaching the barrier in place. The incident was contained immediately by officers and the man is in police custody."
Earlier today the King was formally proclaimed monarch at the Accession Council this morning at a historic meeting where he made a moving tribute to his late mother. As heir apparent, the former Prince of Wales automatically became King after the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday afternoon in Balmoral.
But in keeping with tradition, the Accession Council was called as soon as possible to make the formal proclamation of their successor. This afternoon Liz Truss and other senior ministers swore an oath to King Charles in the House of Commons.
After today, Parliament will shut down for a period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II but remained open for two days to hear tributes from MPs and peers.
