Police surrounded a block of flats after a man reportedly took a gun to a bar.
Merseyside Police surrounded Baltic Studios at the junction of Bridgewater Street and at Jamaica Street at around 5.55pm on Monday, January 9. Three Matrix vans, two Matrix police vehicles, and a small police van were called to the scene, with eyewitnesses reporting seeing armed officers at the scene.
Police, who did not arrive with blue lights flashing or sirens, then entered the building and arrested a 22-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He is currently in custody where he will be questioned.

The arrest comes after reports a man was seen in a bar in Liverpool city centre with a gun last night (Sunday, January 8). A 25-year-old man arrested this morning, also on suspicion of possession of a firearm, remains in custody.
There is no suggestion a gun was fired, anyone was injured or any damage was caused. A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said enquiries remain ongoing and there is no threat to the wider community.
A shop owner told The ECHO police arrived earlier in the evening and he saw a man being led away by officers.
He said: "They didn't have any blue lights on or sirens when they arrived, it was like a stealth mission. I saw armed police with guns go up in one of the flats with torches, but the curtains have been drawn now.
"I saw them lead away at least one man and they have been here ever since."
