Police stop man driving with wardrobe hanging out of the back of Fiat 500

Shocked police gave a driver a stern warning after he drove past them with an entire wardrobe hanging out of the back of his car. Neighbourhood officers pulled over the vehicle after it drove past them last Tuesday.

The car, which appears to be a black Fiat 500, was stopped in Hastings, Sussex. And after a few words from officers, the man and his passenger decided to carry wardrobe to its destination.

Police said: "Hastings Neighbourhood Officers on patrol were quick to act when they spotted a vehicle they were concerned about. Further diligent investigations led them to believe that the car in question had been incorrectly loaded.

"After giving firm words of advice to the driver, he and his friend decided they would carry the item for the rest of its journey. Yes, they really had been driving with it like this…."

Followers of the police force's page on Facebook found the incident hilarious. Karla Chacksfield said: "There’s more wardrobe then there is car." Julie Welfare said: "Well that just shows you what you can fit into a fiat."

Ian Elliot said: "You've got to laugh at this one. Very much a chuckle brothers vibe going on. Too me, too you." And Philip Veness Junior wrote: "There is nothing wrong with this photo. That is indeed absolutely the best way to transport a fiat 500."
