Police stop and seize bus with school children on board

Police stopped a bus with "school children on board" after the driver was found to be uninsured.

Officers have taken the vehicle off the road, after pulling it over, on Stadium Way, Wigan, on Monday, July 3. The bus had flagged up on the police's ANPR camera for having no insurance.

GMP said "a number of school children" were on the bus at the time it was stopped. The driver was reported after not being able to product any insurance, the MOT on the bus had ran out and it was also registered as being off-road, the MEN reports.

The bus was seized and the driver was reported for the offences. A post on the GMP Wigan Facebook page today said: "#GMPTransportUnit stopped this vehicle on Stadium Way in Wigan today after responding to an #ANPR alert for this vehicle flagging it up for having no insurance.

"The bus had a number of school children on board. The driver was spoken to and a full house of issues were identified: not able to produce any insurance, MOT expired in February 2023, vehicle notified off road. Vehicle was seized and the driver was reported for the offences."
