Police still investigating crash involving motorbike and taxi following which biker, 43, died

Police are continuing to investigate a horror crash in Trafford following which a man died, an inquest hearing has been told. Kevin Matley, 43, died after a collision between a motorbike and a private hire taxi in Sale on Friday, October 28.

Mr Matley was rushed to the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI) but sadly died of his injuries.

An inquest into his death was today (Thursday, November 24) opened at South Manchester Coroner's Court in Stockport. Senior Coroner Alison Mutch said a post-mortem had concluded Mr Matley, of Old Trafford, died of 'multiple injuries.'

She said the injuries were sustained 'as a result of a motorbike collision with a private hire car.'

It was reported by the Manchester Evening News at the time of the incident that Mr Matley was riding a green Kawasaki bike which was involved in a collision with a silver Mercedes on Wythenshawe Road in Sale at around 6:45pm.

An investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit was ongoing Ms Mutch said.

She formally opened the inquest but said it was 'sensible' to adjourn the case with a pre-inquest review hearing scheduled for next March next year when she said she would seek to 'understand where GMP are up to with their investigation.'
