Police statement as major cordon set up next to Nottingham woodland

Police are investigating reports of a serious assault on a woman in Nottingham. The incident is believed to have occurred this morning (Wednesday, June 6) in Hucknall Road, near Bulwell Forest, at around 5am.

A major police cordon is currently in place and the scene and the victim is being supported by specialist officers, Nottinghamshire Police said in a statement. A scene will remain in place whilst police officers continue to explore a number of lines of inquiry. High visibility police patrols will also be stepped up in the area.

Detective Sergeant Lee Kirk, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are currently investigating reports of a serious assault and would like to speak to anybody who was near Bulwell Forest in the early hours of this morning and may have seen something. If you saw or heard anything suspicious, however small, we would like to hear from you, as this information could assist our enquiries.”
