Police statement after multiple emergency vehicles seen near Newark petrol station

Several Nottinghamshire Police cars were spotted in a Nottinghamshire town due to a medical emergency. Several police cars were seen on North Gate, Newark, close to the BP petrol station shortly after 5pm on Wednesday, August 3.

Many passerbys were concerned about the presence of the emergency services, and at one point there were six police vehicles on the section of road. This did cause traffic to temporarily slow down on the main road, to avoid the parked cars and allow the police plenty of space to work.

A spokesperson from the Nottinghamshire Police explained that the police cars were present due to a "medical incident that we assisted with."

They said: "It was a medical emergency. Everything has been resolved."

All police vehicles have since left the incident, and traffic is continuing as normal on the road. It is not clear what the medical emergency was or why so many cars responded to the incident.
