Police 'significantly concerned' for welfare of man who disappeared from home

Police are 'significantly concerned' for the welfare of a man who has gone missing from his home in Barrhead.

Andrew Irvine was last seen around 8.10am on Friday morning on Main Street in the town.

Police have described the 48-year-old's disappearance as 'out of character' and are asking anyone who might have seen him to come forward.

He is described as being 5ft 10, of slim build, with short grey/white hair and a beard. When last seen he was wearing a black jacket and blues jeans, carrying a black rucksack with grey stripes.

Sergeant Fiona McGuffie of Giffnock Police Station, said: “This is very out of character for Andrew and there are significant concerns for his wellbeing.

“We are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts, or who believes they may have seen him, to contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 1531 of Friday, 27 May, 2022.”

UPDATE: Andrew Irvine, reported missing from Barrhead, has been traced safe and well.
